bushido_man96 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I alwasy find that intersting too. Its thought if you poke the eyes the fight won't go on. Just shows some ones commitment and pain tollerance is at diffrent levels. Got to be prepared for any thing huh? Yikes! It is a good point, but I really think that a situation like this is most likely the exception rather than the rule. You can't take complete solace in a technique like that, but you can't abandon it, either. Also, makes you think that if you do get your finger into that eye, then the next step is to dig with that finger. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
YoungMan Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 And people wonder why most sports martial arts events ban techniques like this? Why risk blindness just to win a medal or a small purse? Small consolation for a permanent disability. There is no martial arts without philosophy.
Adonis Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Thats why they went from NHB Amost "no rules" to the MMA scene of rules for fighter saftey. Yeah good to train both.

When it comes to sporting events, even fighting ones, one of the most important elements to incorporate are safety measures to ensure that the fighters are able to come back and fight again. It helps to build the fan base, I think. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
YoungMan Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Don't forget, this is not self defense, where you do what you have to do to get out alive. This is sports, where your mission is to win the match and fight again. You are not trying to hurt each other, you are trying to win a match. As such, there must be rules in place so that both fighters get out with a minimum of bodily harm.I really dislike it when people say you should be able to poke the eyes, kick the groin, punch the face etc. You are trying to win a match, not cause permanent injury. There is no martial arts without philosophy.
bushido_man96 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Yes, true. But, to an extent, you are trying to cause pain. Just not permanent injury, like you said. Temporary pain, I guess. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
