I just bought a book written by Renzo Gracie that's called "Mastering Jiujitsu." It is excellent. If you want a book filled with techniques, this is NOT the book for you! It is an intellectually written book that discusses the various theories of how martial arts came to be, the various phases of combat and the techniques used in each phase. Rather than showing techniques, Renzo speaks more about the strategy of combat as he's learned it. Perhaps the coolest parts are his "case studies." He describes various theories and then presents times when those theories were put in use in MMA events. Overall, a great book.

Yeah. I picked that book up a while back. It is an excellent read. Good stuff on the evolution of jujitsu into Judo and into Jiu Jitsu. Great work on the history and theories behind the style.
