bushido_man96 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 So you HAVE to be in shape...ooo soo many blackbelts are struggling right now lol. I am happy cuz I won't be one of them...i mean come on I'm in better shape than some 2nd degree 17 year olds!Well, to be honest with you, you are probably in better physical shape than I am, too. I think that physical conditioning is important, but there are other aspects to think about as well, such as the teaching abilities of the instructors and black belts. Hopefully, they don't get too crazy with the physical requirements. Do you know how these requirements compare to military requirements? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
wingedMonkey Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 They are actually higher than any military requirements. I have the sheet and will try to scan it to send it to u or post some of the information later. Yeah, but I think teaching skills are really important too, that's why i refuse to teach yet...I keep telling them that I want to be even better before i start teaching. bushido_man96 Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Huh, wierd. I have done the 2nd degree form in the past, but was never told anything like that about its origins. I never really considered it, either. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

I have not received anything from ATA HQ mandating specific fitness requirements for black belts or colored belt students.ATA HQ has been distributing "Training Tips" with suggested work-outs. But again, at this point they are only "suggested."Matt White

whitematt Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Did you guys see that Chief Master Clark made the cover of TKDTimes Magazine this month?I don't usually see TKD Times - though my original instructor (and former family doctor) are two of the people that helped get it off the ground.I'll have to pick up a copy and give it a read. Thanks for the heads-up!Matt
