You seem to have a real fixation on the gi. I mean, what if they wore the gi, still threw no kicks, grappled to the mat for 3 straight round and then taunted after the decision, that would make you 100% happier?

I'm not a huge fan of UFC, but I think some of that has to do with the fighters being so skilled, that they wind up jockeying for position the whole match, which can get boring. But with the Fight Network in Canada there is a huge selection of martial arts to watch, outside of UFC, so I stay happy.

I play a wrestling game online. If you'd like to play follow this link

the gi would make it a tiny bit like it used to be.

instead of them looking like they stepped out of Vince's empire. :)

where can I watch full contact kick boxing?

I can't see many Muay Thai based fighters (Anderson Silva, etc) wearing a Gi...nor can I see Chuck Liddell or Matt Hughes.

As said before, not all Martial Arts came from gi-wearing practitioners.

The point i'm trying to make is, I doubt the fighters would comply with that request.

Ah- another alternative outlet since PRIDE's future is a bit uncertain at the moment (although I doubt it will leave, since MMA is really popular in Japan). But remember folks- I still like UFC...just think that PRIDE has a better worldwide sampling of artists and styles as opposed to the mainly USA rooster of the UFC. Now on the gi- I don't see why that particular uniform would somehow make it more 'legitimate', as its based off of more traditional Japanese clothing...Japan isn't the only place where martial artists come from you know. Now I could see how a uniform that could be grabbed onto instead of just trunks might make it a bit more like on the 'street' (I am getting real tired of that word), but really I think that it just needs to make itself more and more professional and polished instead of WWE-esque to spruce itself up, the uniforms aren't that big of a deal. And on the whole, I think it is moving that way.

i think i was a little too general with the gi statement..

if your main background is muay thai.. wear muay thai shorts..

etc.

MMA has become a fighting style in itself..

what kind of martial arts background does randy couture have? forest griffin? tim silvia?

just curious

Randy Couture's background is in wrestling, especially Greco-Roman. That is why his style revolves much more around the standing clinch, as opposed to freestyle/folkstyle wrestlers like Sean Sherk and Josh Koshcheck, who tend to shoot in for the legs from outside.

I believe Tim Sylvia started training MMA from the start. Not sure about Griffin's background.
