Why do you do martial arts?

My personal reason is all my friends do it. (and maybe because i dont want to be worthless in a street fight.

Whats your reason?

(p.s. im starting too many threads here..... slllloooowwww down, gerbil...... this is gonna be my last one in a while.)

Pain is good. Just not in large quantities.

When I get into a fight, the guy laughs at me, then his friends laugh, then i laugh, so everyone's laughing. minutes after he throws the first punch its just me laughing.

I voted for "it's just fun" but it's more then fun. I'm more at peace in the dojo/dojang then anywhere but my own house. If I'm having a bad day, I love to go train.

Fun here also. In over 30 years of training in the arts, I can't remember even one class that I didn't enjoy.

Well...maybe the one where that guy really nailed me good and made me see stars...but hey, that was fun too! :karate:

I take martial arts to keep me fit.

I take martial arts to learn to defend myself.

I take martial arts to build a career for myself.

I take martial arts because it's one of my life's passions.

I chose other. I originally started because as a chubby little kid that got picked on, I wanted something to help me get around this. Later on, it just became a part of me, and now I cannot imagine not doing it. Now, with my job, I take it even more seriously, and think about ways to improve myself every day.

I take martial arts to build a career for myself.

What do you hope to do with it career wise?

Become an Instructor, or maybe Military?

Or Martial Arts Movie Star

Personally, if I am being really honest, I do Martial Arts because I love the outfit. :karate:
