Eye of the Tiger
Is it the problem with courage?
ckdstudent
Courage is often misunderstood, as has been said by many people courage is doing the right thing no matter what the circumstances. I still don't quite follow how this got linked in with fighting and warfare. The greatest courage you'll find is the person who'll walk away from a fight after being mortally offended because its the right thing to do. ---------Pil SungJimmy B
Eye of the Tiger
The better man is only supposed to use just as much force as the person is doing to you. If a person starts shouting abuse at you you can shout back. If someone punches you you dont walk away that is being a coward. You punch the person back, the only reason you woupdn't get back at the person was if he was scared. Thats what blood talon is going on about, isn't it? Knuth
If someone puches you then you break their bones, if they break your bones then you take their life. Unless someone threatens peace, justice, or humanity yours or otherwise a fight shouldn't be an option, even if mortally offended (would that be a fat momma joke?). To only use just as much force as your attacker will draw the fight out and since you are reacting to an attack and letting them escalate the fight you will eventually loose. END IT FAST! _________________ Semper Fi [ This Message was edited by: Knuth on 2002-06-15 12:49 ] Semper Fi
ckdstudent
The better man ends the fight quickly using less force, or better none at all. The man who is going to be charged with excessive force is the one who goes one step further. The man who tries to match their force is the average man who'll probably make a successful plea for self-defense. ---------Pil SungJimmy B
Knuth
ckdstudent have you ever visited the U.S.A? From the way you talk it sounds that you brits are more affraid of your govt than an attacker. Semper Fi
Ti-Kwon-Leap
Debt is viewed differently in europe. If you hit someone and break their nose, you have to pay for their medical bills FIRST, then you have to go to court to recupe your money. At least that is my understanding of the law over there... ckdstudent
What medical bills? We have the NHS remember. I'm terrified of the legal system, in a fight I know that I'll only lose if I do something wrong. In a court case I'll lose if the other guy has more money and can hire a better lawyer, and most of the country has more money than me. I want trial by combat back. ---------Pil SungJimmy B
MonkeyNinja
I may be wrong about the orginal post. But I think that they was refering to a tourney fight. If that is what you are refering to. Don't feel bad it's quite natural. A street fight on the other hand. Well, ascessing the situation is where a fight or flight idea happens I think. (as the others) was talking about. Think about it, would you fight a person in a high crime area, that is full of gang-members? Especially if you are alone. I think the best is to avoid that type of situation all together. If you have to enter a rough area for what ever reason, get through it as quickly as possible. Hey Kickchick, I ought to show how to swing thru the trees with yor hand and feet. NO ROPE NEEDED!!! I have down a zip-line before. They are sooo much fun. Next time try doing it backwards! Its really scary. Live Free, Die Well MonkeyNinja
KickChick
Thanks for bringing the original topic back to us MonkeyNinja .... we do tend to wander off a bit don't we? Now -->Off Topic: ... I did feel a bit like Spiderman! The only backwards I did was when I fell short zipping to one of the platforms, I had to turn backwards and manually zip on back hand over hand until I got there. Talk about a bicep builder![/i] _________________ KarateForums Sensei 1st dan Tae Kwon Do (ITF) Cardio/Fitness Kickboxing Instr.
