"Full contact" TKD?

Recommended Posts

G'day,

I'm not a TKDer nor am I interested in taking TKD at this point in time, I'm just asking out of curiosity, are there any dojangs that say "To heck with the ATA/ITF/WTF/whoever, we're going to spar without headgear, hogus, allow face punches and low kicks"?

i think what u want should be korean kick boxing or taekkyon?

Jumping kicks must have a reason, to cover distance, or to take down a mounted opponent.

I am sure that there are some schools that do that. The school that I attend is not one of any of the organizations that you mention, but we do WTF style sparring.

And how early in the training does this full contact begin? After students have had quite a bit of practice, or from Day One?

usually when students reach around 6th or 5th kup, we start them on full contact.

Do you do any different types of sparring early on in order to get the students geared up for the harder sparring?
