I'm curious if anyone has any experience with these weapons and if so how good are they? Is the quality really good on them or is it just marginal? Are they well balanced and are the blades highly polished?

Thanks,

Pete

I just purchased a Paul Chen Tai Chi sword as a gift for a friend of mine who recently passed his black belt test, and I was impressed with it. I've looked around at other Tai Chi swords that most martial arts supply store carry, and I thought that the Chen one was better made. The balance of the sword felt fine and only weighs 1.2lbs. The blade is nice and sharp, and it did not rattle anywhere as I was inspecting it. Hope this is of some help.

I should be receiving my katana tomorrow. I'll post about the quality and if I get a chance I'll upload a few pics of it. If the quality is excellent then I will buy a more expensive sword from him.

Well I received my Paul Chen Practical Katana tonight. I will say that it is much heavier than the mass produced swords. The blade is extremely sharp. The polishing on the blade is decent. Not the best I've seen but it is good. However, this is also the bottom end katana from them. Their more expensive blades have higher quality polishing. The handle is beautiful and tightly wrapped. I highly recommend buying one of these katanas. The balance of the sword is far superior to any other sword I've used. I WILL be buying a more expensive blade from him in the near future.
