I think that on Pardon the Interruption (please correct me if I'm wrong- I get sports shows mixed up sometimes) a few days ago the reporters were actually discussing a lack of testing in golf. I don't understand- it seems like a basic thing that all sports should drug test.

this thread isn't too accurate...Josh Barnett was the first person to test positive for steroids after his defeat of Randy Couture in UFC 36. After Barnett Tim Silvia tested positive for roids. Barnett tried to appeal and Silvia admitted to it and was suspended 6 months.

On a side note the UFC is trying to throw a lot of events in Texas, USA and is throwing a third card in the UK. Texas, USA and the UK do not require testing for steroids like some other places do.

I've fought on some of the same cards as Barnett, Sherk, and Franca and can say from people that I know personally that steroids are a lot more rampant then you probably realize.

Oops, I had a couple of things mixed up-

I knew about Barnett, but that was right after Fertitta brothers came in, so it wasn't yet the UFC in its current incarnation, but I had no idea that Tim Silvia had!

Thanks for the good info shinbushi!

Beckham probably doesn't even need most of that, the amount he gets for just appearing on some ad or endorsing some product. He's also getting paid money to have channel FIVE I think follow him around when he starts playing for Galaxy. Plus lil old Posh spice is probably raking it in with the Spice Girls reformation. Even if he doesn't play too good, he still has that public image appeal for Galaxy.
