smuupsekry Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 hey all, been looking for some new pads and came across the century martial armor. has anyone tried these before?? just lookin for some opinions to help be decide if its worth trying they out or not.
bushido_man96 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 I have seen it, and have wondered about them myself. I have always been suspect about Century equipment, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
AikiGuy Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Never tried it but it give you my opinion anyway. Since the vest is basically a shield sewn to a shirt, I wonder how well it would fit. My weight has gone up and down as much as 60 pounds before, so I would need something more adjustable than a "shirt". If I gain weight, it would be too tight. And if it does stretch to fit me, then I lose weight, it will be too loose. That's my only problem with the vest. The shin and forearm guards look like they would be great protection. Paranoia is not a fault. It is clarity of the world around us.
dano Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 While I have not worn the century martial armor, I own two of them. I bought them for my sons who were participating in tournaments. They liked them because they were not as bulky as the chest protectors supplied by the tournament folks. They fit well and have a lycra mess-like material on both sides that is flexible when you move (and grow). The protective foam is not thick and will not protect you well from a hard punch or kick. But, if where you spar/tournament fight only allows light to moderate contact, then this would offer decent protection. My sons liked them and it provided some protection, so it was worth it for me. Hope that helps.
NY_Karatedork Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I like the looks of the Martial Armor but I don't think the chest guard would be very good but I want to buy the forearm guards and maybe shin guards. I have ninja monkies in my brain and they are using it as a trampaline.
