soyangco Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Who do you think will make the list of ESPN's "Who's Now" contest? A contest where people can nominate for their greatest athletes.I saw some nominations for Randy Couture, do you think he deserves to be included on that list?Well for me I guess he deserves it, he did a lot for his age now, and I guess it's time for him to give credit by nominating him as one of the greatest athletes! http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=whosnow/070611
bushido_man96 Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I think that Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell could get some nods as well, with their popularity right now. However, Couture is very deserving, and I think he is a great choice. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
soyangco Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Yeah! Indeed! Couture is a great choice among any other MMA fighetrs. Although Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell are also a great fighter and a great athlete, I guess Couture has the characteristics and qualifications to be included on the list.He has lot's of endorsements he even appeared on a movie and TV commercials plus he helped the troops. And I guess why people really repect this guy.
G95champ Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I don't know that I would call Hughes or Chuck a great athlete. Great fighters yes but could you see them playing basketball or football or golf. Not saying they can't but both of those guys worked hard to get what they got.Randy is a good pic because we have saw him change from heavy to light and back to heavy and he won before there was weight classes. The best athlete in the UFC is Tito Ortiz and I was not a Titio fan for a long time. I gained a lot of respect for him after UFIII. Back to the point. If I had to pick a ATHLETE (a fighter who could do any sport with little or not time to adjust) I would take Tito no question. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
soyangco Posted June 29, 2007 Author Posted June 29, 2007 MMA is consider as sport, doesn't matter if you are a fighter, golfer or even basketball player but it counts. People want Randy to be included on that list to represent MMA.ESPN's "Who's Now" list isn't just about dominating your individual sport, you got to read what they are basing on it. And randy definitely would fit the bill of what they are looking for, way more than any MMA fighter though.Look at Randy's accomplishements, he has lot's notable endorsements you got to look on it, he has lots good story to tell.My vote goes to him!
