Jayare012
Ive taken a break from doing any type of MA for a couple years now. Recently I have been wanting to get back into it. The problem is, I do not know which style of MA I want to take. I am looking for something that involves about equal or slightly more hand work than feet work. Another thing that im looking for, is a dojo that trains hard and hits hard. When I did TKD it was mainly kicking, katas and hardly any exercise. Also I dont remember learning any real techniques other than different types of kicks. I was no beginner either, was 3 belts from black. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Also if anyone else lives in the cincinnati area and knows/goes to a school like this please let me know. Thx!

french fri25
muay thai, kyokushin karate, and possibly shotokan could be what your looking for. of course, its going to depend on the instructor, but these styles seem to be pretty equal between kicking and punching. good luck with finding a style your happy with. but, remember, its more important to find a good instructor rather than a particular style. Montana
Find an Okinawan school...50/50 hands/feet, grappling, weapons..and should be a real good workout for you. I'm partial to Shorin Ryu for some reason. Jayare012
Also I am not a big fan of katas. So something with little to none of that would also be a big plus. I looked into Muay Thai and kyokushin. Both look very interesting and equally appealing. I have a problem though. There is no muay thai or kyokushin school in the cincinnati, ohio, 45251 area that I can find. If someone knows of one of these schools or something else that I may be interested in please post. Much ThanksZ!
bushido_man96
Judo or BJJ would be styles that do not practice katas as well. You could look into some of them, and grappling styles are intense workouts as well. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
french fri25
you could also look into krav maga or a russian MA. those usually contain a good amount of hand strikes, no kata, and good self defense techniques.
