monkeygirl
There is a tournament on City Park Island in Harrisburg on July 6th!!! A bunch of students from my dojo are going. If you're in the area, check it out! It has 3 divisions: sparring, forms and weapon forms. $30 to compete, FREE to watch. I think you can find it online but I'm not sure when. They also break up the divisions to very small increments. Because of these small increments, last year there were sometimes only 3 people per division, if any at all. That's why you all have to come down and provide some competition!! If not, just wish me luck then, because this is my first tourney on the state level (although it's open to the world) I'm somewhat daunted 1st dan & Asst. monkeygirl
Well, I'm back from the tournament! I've been back for a week, but I had 6 teeth pulled on the 8th, so I was kind of out of it My division consisted of me and a girl who did Kung Fu. I got 1st in Weapons and Sparring, and 2nd in Open-Hand. Unfortunately, during my open-hand form, I got kind of lost in one of my spinning moves at the very end, and couldn't find the judges! I kept looking around for them! I was soooooo mad at myself. But I learned my lesson: Always find a point of reference!!! Wish you all were there!! 1st dan & Asst. Tobias_Reece
MonkeyGirl Ok, this may make me sound a bit stupid, but what does it matter if you lose the sight of the judges? Surely the form depends on your opponents, not where the judges are. Please enlighten me "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True. monkeygirl
OK I know you asked this question quite awhile ago, but I'll answer it anyway. The problem was, I couldn't tell where to come back to attention! I had to bow to the judges, but I couldn't even find them! I was mortified. It wouldn't have mattered so much where I finished, just as long as I could have found the judges again. Unfortunately, I hadn't the foggiest idea where I was. 1st dan & Asst.
