dino73
I'm just looking for some input on Seidokan Karate. There's a school in my area that I'm going to check out as I'd like to learn Karate. Any info would be welcome. Such as differences between other Okinawan styles, quality, and anything else anybody knows. Thanks

Montana
I met a young (mid-20's) Seidokan Karate instructor via another forum a few years ago by the screen name of sauzin. Some of you might know him, as he has his own small forum. He and another Shorin Ryu stylist came to me and we worked together for a weekend Unforunately my back went all haywire on me the day they arrived, so my participation was very limuited. Anyway, as sauzin explained to me, Seidokan Karate is an offshoot of, or highly influenced by, Shorin Ryu.All I can say is, that sauzin impressed me a lot, and if he's typical of what Seidokan Karate, then I'd say go for it...it's a good system! If you don't want to stand behind our troops, please..feel free to stand in front of them.Student since January 1975---4th Dan, retired due to non-martial arts related injuries. dino73
Thanks for the website ps1. That had alot of good info. Montana, thanks for your input as well. I just havn't heard or read much about Seidokan while I've been looking into Okinawan Karate, and I just wanted to get some info from others, before I commit myself. But since this is the only traditional karate school around, I'm sure thats where I'll go. There are several Korean martial arts around but I'd like to get into as traditional an art as I can find. Thanks againdino73
