Mine was the 19th, so I think I'll remember pretty well...

I tested for black in TKD. First off, we did all the basic techniques. Then we did self defense and one-steps, then sparring, then kata and a weapons form, then breaking. There was also quite a bit of psychological testing during the test. All in all, it lasted about 7 hours.

Started off with us each taking it in turns to conduct a bit of a warm-up. Then all the forms we knew. After that we had to come up individually and were marked on our presentation of 2 forms. Then self-defense, one-step, two-step and a bit of three-step. We then had to spar everyone else at least once followed by 3-onto-1 sparring. Then breaking. We did a written theory test at the pre-grading and had to hand in a mini-thesis the week before.

Let's see...that was a while ago!

We did all of our low rank forms, and one-steps, and sparring segments. We then did our own rank forms. We sparred all of the black belts present, and had to do our own impromptu form. Then, it was board breaks.

Preform all the katas and techniques up to that point, spar a lot for a long time and against multiple people at once, and I believe possibly come up with some new contribution to the system... but that may be second dan.
