Training in "Street Clothes"


What "Street Clothes" do you wear for "reality" training?

Greeting,

I was wondering for those who set aside certain training sessions dedicated

to training in their "street clothes" what clothes do you wear?

For example in my day job I wear slacks, shirt, tie and dress shoes.

If I were one of your students would you encourage me to wear this to that

training session or something more comefortable like sweats and sneakers.

When I trained independantly we used street clothes but now that I'm in a school we have uniforms and gis.

But what is you definition of street clothes?

Too early in the morning? Get up and train.

For street clothes, I would usually be wearing shoes, shorts, and a T-shirt.

However, I responded as for my work, which is basically the typical LEO uniform, with those polyester type pants, a ballistics vest over a T-shirt which is under a button-up collar shirt. Also black work boots (not steel-toed) and a duty belt with the gear on it (radio, cuffs, pepper spray, taser, keys).

I would feel it a necessity to do the training in this gear, because things feel and move a lot differently when wearing this stuff. This is the outfit I would most likely be wearing when the crap hits the fan.

When I'm training at home I usually wear a t-shirt and sweats but sometimes I'll do 15-20 minutes of training in whatever I'm wearing that day - usually jeans. I really need to train in heels but I don't like shoes :lol: When I try on shoes though I always throw a few kicks, especially in heels to make sure I can.

External training without the training of the mind is nothing

I always wear t-shirts, shorts, track pants, jumpers, jackets, flip flops, running shoes, normal shoes, steel cap work boots... In some combination. That covers basically all the clothes i wear day to day.

I would wear jeans and a t-shirt. the only problem with those clothes are the jeans. it limits the height of my kicks.

Thanks for the replies.

To continue the thought how have you copensated for the clothing.

I.e. I try to be extra attentive when i'm wearing a tie. I haven't found any

clip one or break away ties that look desent.

Do you avoid certain dress options?

i.e.

I tend to avoid flip flops because the afford no protectin for my feet.

As far as avoiding certain dress options go, I am kind of with you on the flip-flops. I do have a pair, but I only wear them if I know I am only going to have them on for a short period of time. A quick trip to the store, or too and from TKD class, etc. If I am going to be out and about for any length of time, I wear shoes. I also avoid tight clothing. It restricts my movement, and I just can't stand it.
