marie curie Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hmmm... not at any place I can think of off the top of my head. You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your faceA good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. -Lao Tzu
marie curie Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Yeh, here is a link to that but I've always seen it used as a step through type of thing. You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your faceA good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. -Lao Tzu
ps1 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Tekki shodan (naihanchi shodan), last move.Looks more like a hammer fist, which is how I was taught Tekki Shodan. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
Sensei Tom OBrien Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 It's a pretty good punch. We do it in Vee-Jitsu in one of our kata. I did this kata last Nov. at the FIMA Fall Classic and took 2nd pl. You actually wind up in kiba dachi facing to the left if you throw the right. Thanks,Sensei Tom
bushido_man96 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I'm not sure I've ever seen a "side punch." Does anyone have a picture? It sounds like you start like a lunge punch but turn all the way into a horse stance and punch sideways? What's its purpose? This is how I see it. Its purpose? Not for sure...just technique work, I would say. I am sure that you could find a scenario in self-defense where you could end up in this position, but I think it would be few and far between.Something you can gain from the technique is the drop of the body weight into to punch by dropping into the stance at the point of execution. I think that you could get this punching into a front stance as well. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
marie curie Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 In forms in Kajukenbo we do this movement, but I don't think I have any videos... hmmm.. maybe I'll make one this weekend. ps1 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I think I have the general idea of what you're talking about now. I studied TKD for 3 years, from age 6 to 9 (a long time ago now) and think I remember something like this from one of those forms. I remember performing a low defend in a front stance then stepping through and ending up in horse stance with a punch to my right. I think I forgot about it because we don't have that technique in any of the arts I've studied since. Thanks for the clarification. Sorry if I sounded a little silly asking about it. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
bushido_man96 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Nah, there is nothing silly about asking, ps1. Its all good! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
