ninjer
It depends on what you're training for- learning how to throw a punch is 10x more important than learning how to throw a kick. You wont need much more than a roundhouse and front kick in an actual altercation, and when and if it does arise you'll either be happy you spent more time learning to punch or wish that you did. I have seen many people who are relatively effective from a kicking range, but when an opponent blocks/sidesteps their way into punching range, then these kickers seem to loose their way (and consequently the fight). Fighting arts that were not effective for fighting and selfdefense, never lasted long enough in martial arts history, to gain the Traditional Martial Arts - TMA - status.
