boyo1991 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 i say no because of my style, plus it will get you ready for someone trying to mug you. but at the dojo, they make you i know... but at home i belive it to be better to spar without pads for that reson, just take it easy... "ok, well i must warn you, im an orange belt on karateforums!"
marie curie Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I generally don't spar at home- do you have a safe spot? When I was in high school we did some- well I guess mma-type stuff at home, but that was to entertain ourselves (middle of nowhere WV). It was good times and I'm more comfortable afterwards with my self-defense... but bad habits appear if you are interested in tournament-ness. You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your faceA good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. -Lao Tzu
boyo1991 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 ya i have a safe spot, we have mats and stuff... no walls, but we have a sort of "ref" that says when we are close to the edge, or when to stop cuz we are getting to intense and hitting to hard... "ok, well i must warn you, im an orange belt on karateforums!"
DWx Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I'd say that as long as you and your partner are aware of the risks and are willing to accept the risks, then go ahead, spar without pads! Just be careful "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
