NightOwl Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 The number given can vary- but really a good portion are very obscure. Also pressure points don't work on everyone, can be nullified by being tense or pumped up during a fight, and are useless even if you are off by just half an inch. For instance, right behind your ear lobe there is a pressure point that hurts if you dig hard into it. However that isn't going to KO someone or even prevent them for continuously punching you while you try and use the point. Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
yingampyang Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Well hand presure points , there are approx. 112 , that i counted. I think that there is no 1 style , and that to truly become a great martial artist and person you must take information from where ever you can.

You also have to consider if the person you are fighting is inebriated in some form or another. If guys that are hyped up on PCP keep coming after LEOs after they have shot them 15 times, there is no point in trying to use a pressure point stike on them. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
yingampyang Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Yes thats right its completly useless. Thats where you start breakin bones to see if that will hurt them. Basically, if someone is juiced like that, you need two things; distance, and more ammo. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Montana Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I'll be the oddball here and state that I believe that pressure point knowledge, whether punches/kicks are being thrown, or in a grappling situation, do work and are effective. If you ever get a chance to par someone with good PP knowledge and skills, you'll find that your punches are going to hurt you, as will your kicks. A good PP fighter can strike accurtely specific points of your body causing lose of usuge of that limb (arm/leg). It takes practice, accuracy, knowledge, speed and confidence in your abilities. If you don't want to stand behind our troops, please..feel free to stand in front of them.Student since January 1975---4th Dan, retired due to non-martial arts related injuries.
