bushido_man96 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 does Aikido even use swords?I think that Aikido gets heavily associated with Kendo, which is a swordsmanship style, that uses the shinai (bamboo sword) to practice. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Nometry Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Do NOT buy a half tang sword if you plan to use it. Half tang is STRICTLY for display only. I suggest buying the Nami Wave Katana by Paul Chen, it's an Iaito which is made for what your talking about.
marie curie Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I like aluminum for demonstrations- nice and light, so when you practice with a heavy one, your movement goes really smoothly. You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your faceA good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. -Lao Tzu
lordtariel Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 If you're flinging that thing around, you should probably go with a sword that has a full tang. The last thing you want to happen is for the blade to come loose and spear something.(Happened to one of my friends using a Chinese broadsword once. Blade went right through his couch.) There's no place like 127.0.0.1
raymonm316 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I believe thats the XMA sword.its made for extreme weapons katawhich is alot of "slinging" it aroundIve seen it used many timesI think you'll be ok http://www.glop.org/gamercard/card/skillzdatki11z-forumgames.pngGet your own Gamercard Sig.
