Just have a positive attitude and believe that you will do the best that you can do!

What type of tournament is it?

dont get nervous... it bugs me to no end to see people freakin out (even in the highbelt divisions) over a tournament...

You're just there to enjoy yourself and learn some valuable lessons on sparring, and how good forms should look like.

MY BIGGEST PIECE OF ADVICE TO YOU!

since ure a yellow belt you should be done pretty soon, unless ure in the adult division when u may be near the end... but my best advice is stay and watch the blackbelts compete. Study what they do, think about their techniques and then think about yours, strive to do a kata, handle a weapon, spar an opponent, etc. Like they do...

when you watch a black belt it gives you a much better understanding of strategy, clean form, proper technique usage, etc...

good luck to you

Brown belt... win trophies... grade... lose trophies... so much fun

Being nervous is natural. Before you go out to compete, take a few deep breaths, and then let it all hang out.

Trust in your training, and do your best. Good luck! :karate:

What type of tournament is it?

It will have sparring open hand kata, and weapons kata as far as i know. For my open hand i will be doing heyon Nidan(It means peacful mind kata 2 but im not sure i spelled it right)Which is a open hand kata, and a Bo Staff kata, bo form 1 it has and authentic name, but its too hard to remember. I will also be competing in sparring which i think is my best bet.

As everyone else said, the biggest thing to do is make sure you relax and enjoy it. The first tournament is a learning experience. Don't go into it thinking about how well you're going to do, go into it thinking about how much you're going to learn. I remember spending so much time obsessing about how I was going to do in my first tournament that I tripped myself up when it finally came down to my turn.

There's no place like 127.0.0.1
