obiwansbane Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 SCENARIO: You're thrown into a collesium, and you have to fight a mirror image of yourself. You have a choice, either broom stick *not the sweeping part just the handle* that is solid enough that it wont break. OR a dinner knife, *the barely serated kind you get in resteraunts*Whichever you pick your opponent gets whatever else is left.Which would you pick and why Brown belt... win trophies... grade... lose trophies... so much fun
lordtariel Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 The broomstick... I'd sweep the floor with myself(Wait for the groans) I'd pick it simply for the range advantage I'd have over a knife. I'd probably spend more time thrusting with the thing than I would striking since broomsticks aren't very heavy or robust. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
french fri25 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 i'd also go for the broomstick. i am pretty tall for my age so i have been trained to use my reach advantage so i think i would be able to adapt to the broomstick easier than i would with the knife.
ShotokanKid Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'd go for the broomstick because I can attack the hand with it and make him drop the knife. I learned the effectiveness of rapping the knuckles with a stick when training with the double bastons. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
NightOwl Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'd take the knife and laugh at the mirror image of myself who has never trained in a staff weapon before Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
bushido_man96 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'd take the stick as well. Then kick sand in his face, and go to town. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
learning kempo-karate Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hello, I think I would take the longer weapon (stick). BUT the knife can be thrown. It is better to keep distance and you will be able to strike his knife hand too, before he can close in. ............Aloha (if he is as good as I am? ...We both will lose!). HUH?

HUH?Sure, you can throw it, but it is just a butter-knife....I don't think it will do much damage. Plus, if you miss, you are weaponless, while the other has the stick. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
NightOwl Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'd punch with the butter knife, it would not be comfortable to get hit with that. The broomstick offers too much commitment for me...you miss and the other guy has you Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
bushido_man96 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 The broomstick offers too much commitment for me...you miss and the other guy has youIt will, if you swing it like a baseball bat. Otherwise, you can make very controlled motions with the stick, and use the length to your advantage to keep your butter-knife weilding counterpart at bay. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
