BLueDevil Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 So I was watching a special on the movie 300 coming up on 3/9/07 and the director mentioned they used Kali fighting in the battle scenes, which will definately make for an exciting movie!Just wondering if everyone here is happy with this or if they would have wanted a more traditional "sword&sandals" type fighting like in Troy or Alexander(maybe Troy is reaching)but you get the idea. What do you think>? There is no teacher but the enemy.
Sohan Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I'm just hoping the movie doesn't reek. It's been hyped so much that I'm leery about being let down, a la Alexander. They can fight with bananas for all I care as long as it's good entertainment....With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Zen Master Nakahara Nantenbo"A man who has attained mastery of an art reveals it in his every action." Samuarai maxim"Knowing others is wisdom; knowing yourself is Enlightenment." Lao-Tzu
bushido_man96 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I think the use of kali will help the fight scenes to be more realistic. The fights in Troy, although entertaining, were obviously choreographed for entertainment purposes, and not reality.I am excited about this movie, and hope it is entertaining. The scenes that they have advertised make it look like it they took a creative approach to they way they filmed it.I think it is based off of the Battle of Thermopole (hope I spelled that right!). https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
lordtariel Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 It looks like a good movie, I hope it lives up to the hype. I hate it when the only good scenes in a movie are in the trailer. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
bushido_man96 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 It looks like a good movie, I hope it lives up to the hype. I hate it when the only good scenes in a movie are in the trailer.I agree. However, I kind of see this movie beginning and ending with fighting. However, I don't expect any of the 300 to survive. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
BLueDevil Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 I have the graphic novel so I wont spoil anything, but I will say its gonna be a very exciting movie.I dont think bananas will be involved Sohan There is no teacher but the enemy.
obiwansbane Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 its 18A so i will have to find someone to take me to watch it (which will be quite a task) but i cant wait! i think if they use kali fighting, and they incorporate it smoothly, and it doesnt seem too clashy with the rest of the fighting it should be quite nice Brown belt... win trophies... grade... lose trophies... so much fun
bushido_man96 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Is Chuck Liddel in this movie? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
ShotokanKid Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Didn't find him on IMDB, that doesn't mean he's not though. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
bushido_man96 Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Here's a buzz kill for everyone. I watched a special on the Battle of Thermopylae on the History channel this evening, and it turns out that 1000 Thespian soldiers stayed behind with the 300 Spartans. The battle has become romanticized to the point that only the 300 are talked about. It should actually be called 1300. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
