DWx Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I watched this (or a similar video) a while back with a guy who was teaching seniors how to use their walking sticks and canes as weapons for self defense: I agree. Blitz magazine Australia has done some interesting articles on La Canne and similar arts over the years, but it really does all look like a stick fighting art. In these they do note that not all canes have hooks... I guess it is a personal preference thing.I don't much about Le Canne (nothing!) so I googled it. What's its history do you know? Kinda looked like related to fencing to me but with a looser feel, (maybe Savate?), especially given the French connection: "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
Kodakmint Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I've trained with a cane a little, it's a blast
shinka Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 cane is a very good weapon. We learn how to use it in Hapkido.an umbrella with a hook handle can do the trick too.legal and doesn't look like a weapon.BUT IT HURTS!!! choke move, groin, leg pull, leg sweep, many hits....and sleeves throwing (cool move by the way).... Knowing others is intelligence, knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.
