baronbvp Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 This is a true story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070224/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/costa_rica_tourist_mugging_11 Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
NightOwl Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Yeah, I read that on a different site. Cool thing is that these were seniors! So kids, next time you see an old lady smuggling drugs in from Canada...LEAVE THEM ALONE! Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
bushido_man96 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Very interesting story. That guy was very brave. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
lordtariel Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Brave, but it still was dangerous. Still, there's a part of me that likes to see the senior taking out the mugger. Don't mess with old people. They'll give you a good woopin. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
learning kempo-karate Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Hello, These people were brave and stay and fought as a group.United we stand..divided we fall. There was several families attack by some young people (teens and young adults). Yet each one was did't resist. So the campers were beaten up.But as a group...they did not get together to form as a unit. The kids went camp to camp. (NO one want to help the next campers.)It is amazing how one person can control a group? If threaten by that one person. United you stand strong! At 70 years old? ....What a brave guy and it shows anyone can applies a choke hold too. In Hawaii the word : OHANA means family (related or NOT) anyone can be a part of your OHANA!We all must become a OHANA...to be united and protect ourselves....Aloha: You are welcome to be a part of my OHANA!
ShotokanKid Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Read about that in the paper. Pretty crazy. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."
baronbvp Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Yeah, and I'm not sure how many of us really are know how to take it that last step. That's not something you get to practice. Most of us don't even think about it much, I'll bet. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.

Most of us don't even think about it much, I'll bet.I agree. Honestly, most of the fighting instructors out there would not advise action like this. I am not downgrading what he did...it was very admirable. However, there are very few of us who I think would actually do it. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
