french fri25 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 hey guys. my old school had this thing called a Wavemaster VTS (Variable Training System) but i never had a chance to use it. my new school doesnt have one but i am still interested in it. its hard to do some kicks on heavy bags like wheel kicks, hook kicks, etc. also, its hard to work on control and like aiming your kicks on a heavy bag. this wavemester vts looks pretty good though. do any of you guys have one of them or have you ever used one? i am interested in getting one but it is expensive and i want to make sure its worth it.
DWx Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Their nice to train with but if your on a low budget improvise your own. Buy a load of pads and attach them on poles to a secure middle pole. Overall the VTS is just a substitute for a human being holding the pads so its up to you whether or not you want to dig deep and come up with the cash. bushido_man96 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I am not sure if I have seen one yet. Is it a heavy bag that can hold target pads as well?Sounds cool, but not sure how much I would pay for one.Incidentally, I practice spin heel kicks on the heavy bag. You just don't get to work on the follow-through as much. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

bushido_man96 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 http://www.martialartshop.co.uk/Century%20Wavemaster%20VTS.htmjust google it people! Looks kind of cool. I wonder how durable those pads are, though.Woo, 'tis a bit pricey, though! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
french fri25 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 yea. the thing i like about it is that the pads are held at different angles and i like that you can move them up and down and even put 2 or more on the same side. but as i said, its pricey. i think i might take DWx's advice and try to improvise instead of spending the money. but if i happen to hit the lotto (fingers crossed), i think i might look into buying one. lol.
french fri25 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 lookey here, just found a vid of it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=U_OmWTwNqP0take a look.
DWx Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Just looking at how much it would cost, £400-£500! You could still buy one if you wanted (and if you were absolutely rolling in cash). Maybe a second hand one? Also looked at prices for improvising... the seperate pads themselves only cost £15 and the ole hammer, nails and a bit of would wouldn't be too expensive?
