Don Gwinn Posted July 8, 2002 Posted July 8, 2002 It is always easier to ban the possession of an object and proclaim that you have "done something" than to deal with a problem. ____________________________________* Ignorant Taekwondo beginner.http://www.thefiringline.com
battousai16 Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 alright, first up artofninja (can i call ya artsie? ), lets not over estimate society. i believe that's 1,600 pounds of force per square inch, not 2,000 as for "i dont see how nunchucks are that dangerous. i mean how are you gonna hold up a bank or something with nunchucks! and you need to be trained properly before they can do any really harm so....." the grocery store by where i live was held up by 3 guys with nunchaku, and a few years before we had a video store held up by 2 guys with bo staffs "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Shorin Ryuu Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 I could be wrong, but I think in some places like California, they are banned. Although to what exent, I am unsure. Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
Aamorn KSW Posted June 16, 2003 Posted June 16, 2003 We had a visiting instructor this week who did joolbong (nunchaku) with us. He was telling us that it's illegal to own them in Texas, but it's not illegal to carry a gun. Aamorn - KSW Chuhng Di
Fenris-wolf Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Alright, I'm probably going to start an argument, but I can't help it... Out of all the Americans here, what do you all think of the way your government's behaving?? Let Us Turn The Jump Rope In Accord With Socialist Principles!
Icetuete Posted June 21, 2003 Posted June 21, 2003 do i get this right? it is not allowed to carry nunchaku but its perfectly ok to carry katana/bo staff or whatever?
Icetuete Posted June 21, 2003 Posted June 21, 2003 and btw: i posted in the weapons forum and was told that almost everything could be used as a weapon. so the grocery store mentioned earlier could as well have been robbed by a well trained umbrella fighter. so it'll be best to forbid the use of an umbrella in public
battousai16 Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 well, remember that laws differ depending on where you are, but in WI, you can't carry a bo, a katana, nunchaku, etc. unless you're going to/from a dojo/dojang/kwoon/home/whatever. guns are absolutely forbiden down here in southern WI, but they get more leniant on that the farther north you get, until you get into the peninsula, where then same laws apply as below. and, for the record, at my school, ever since the whole columbine incident, we replaced all of our metal silverware with plastic eating utinsels (they keep breaking on the food ), and we actually aren't allowed to carry umbrellas in the school! when you arrive, you have to put them in your locker or in the office. this is cumbersom as my school is made up of two buildings. we have bins filled with umbrellas at the main doors of each buildings, but it dosen't much help as they're usually gone by the time most people get there. they also have a ban on all sorts of other stuff, and all sorts of things keep getting confiscated; from paper swords to necklaces with bullets on them from the civil war. 3 boys were suspended last year for 2 weeks for running around in the forest (on school property) with toy guns (they were shooting a movie for film class). it's really gotten out of hand. battousai16 Posted June 22, 2003 Posted June 22, 2003 tell me about it. i had to run out and buy a pair of chopsticks because i can't eat with those stupid plastic forks; they keep breaking ! and you just watch, my principal will watch "kiss of the dragon" and will confiscate those too!
