most of the moves are not useable in a street fight, but some are very useful. but lots of the basic moves are just like normal martial moves, the meia lua de frente is just a frontkick. but the chapa-de-costa is when you are on all fours and kick straight back. i like the meia lua de compaso. it is a very stroung spinning kick, you spin as fast as you can and put your hands on the ground to support yourself. it all depends on your fighting style if you like fance takedowns you might like the negative derrubando (negative means it is preformed from the ground) your opponent kicks and you drop down and hook his ankle with your foot, and yank it out from under him. i could go on for quite some time listing moves. some moves are verg practicle but also i doubt you would do a cartwheel in a street fight. but in brazil it was used as a self defence art.

their spinning back kicks are deadly and deceptive due to how the upper body goes down and the hands are on the ground. just how shortdog described.

Capoeria is.. FUN.. it is not as effective as other self-defense methods, but that is because it was incorporated into dance to diguise itself from the slavers. I personally think that it is outdated now and needs to be modernized, but sometimes tradition keeps it fun. To become higher ranked in Capoeria, one must learn to sing, dance and play the musical instruments. If you want to see some Capoeria in a movie, check out "Only the Strong" and "BloodSport 3".
