Okay i currently do just sparring and freestyle kinda karate and want to self teach myself some kata for fun in my spare time. i'm not really bothered what style. tho, i did quite like one called snake fist? i saw at a competition.

anyway, i was wondering if you know any instructional videos etc on the net i could start learning from?

all help grately appreciated

well if u have yourself well grounded in kihons, it may be fun to try and make ure own kata, if not two kata's i REALLY like are

Kanku sho (sp?) and

Empi

i havnt learned empi cause its high for me, but it looks awsome! and since ure teaching ureself nobody can really comment on whether or not ure a high enough belt...

I hope that goes well for you! You should find that ability to get instant feedback much better for your training in the end.

My old dojo has an excellent DVD for about $40 made by the head instructor, a 6th Dan. It has all his shorin ryu kata. See another thread at http://www.karateforums.com/anyone-here-have-kata-book-set-written-out-vt30114.html?highlight=kata+dvd
