Nickgarren
When kicking the attackers knee, is it best to snap the kick or to follow through with the kick? I have also read and heard that a kick to someones knee is the best way to end the trouble. True? Thank you for answers.
ckdstudent
If you want to end the fight fast follow through, break the knee, and walk casually away. ---------Pil SungJimmy B
Bon
Why the knee specifically ? With pretty much all of my kicks, I follow through.. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
tessone
You're going to have much more luck breaking the knee if you follow through. Chris TessoneBrown Belt, Kuk Sool Won
ckdstudent
Snap kicks rely much more on the actual impact, as such they tend to have about the same power as a hard slap, at most. ---------Pil SungJimmy B
SuperMinh
If you just snap your kick on his knee, he'll stumble down at most and then get up again and come back at you if you wait there. On the other hand, if you follow through you'll break his knee and he'll never get up.
YODA
Has anyone ever actually tried to break someone's knee with a kick? Or is all this just hypothesis? I'm ashamed to say - I have, and it's not as easy as you would imagine. bludhall
damn straight yoda breaking a knee is alot harder than anyone here seems to realise. Also are you guys in a vacuum? you have to break the guys knee to finish things? whats going to happen when the cops show up? if you kick him in the knee and he reacts, thats your opening to close with another technique. Also remember that foolowing thru means you commit and any counter he might be doing will certainly have the energy behind it from you to be effective. Pacificshore
Like with breaking techniques, follow-thru is what is needed versus snapping techniques. Just think of snapping kicks as a jab, and the follow-thru kick as the cross. First one speed related, the latter power related. As far as attacking the knees, well unless you have no other choice but to brake/dislocate the knee then by all means use the follow-thru. Otherwise perhaps a simpler solution would be attacking the knee from behind as it naturally will bend, and at the sametime save you on the medical expenses and lawyer fees!!
