Dazed and Confused
The British media is going nuts because massively over-rated footy player David Beckham is moving to LA Galaxy for an obscene quantity of money, making him one of the highest paid sportsmen in the world (between £500,000 and £1million a week depending on who you believe). I was just wondering-1)Does anyone in america care?2)Do you think it'll make any difference to the state of soccer in America?Cheers,D+C
username8517
I was just wondering-1)Does anyone in america care?2)Do you think it'll make any difference to the state of soccer in America?1) Yeah, the media Okay okay, all joking aside I'm sure there are some people foaming at the mouth to see him play in person. I'm just not one of them. Personally, I don't think it will have any kind of impact one way or another on whether I watch a professional soccer game or not as I'd rather play a sport than watch it. But I am kind of glad that there is a certain potential rise in popularity that he brings.2) He does bring a certain "superstar" status to the game that for the most part is lacking in the public eye. I'm sure there will be some sort of immediate impact on soccer here and hopefully it does make a positive difference in to how soccer is viewed here in America. Will it make a significant difference in the long run, I honesty don't know. It all depends on how the short run is affected by his presence. bushido_man96
I think it is ok. No big deal to me, though. It isn't going to make me turn on a soccer game, now. I watch football, NASCAR, baseball, and college basketball, just about in that order. I don't think I will be working soccer in any time soon. However, if does work out well for the MLS, then I do think that it is a good thing. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
patusai
Golly, I did not know that LA had a soccer team. Now I do. I think that he is getting a lot of money which everyone out there hopes that this will develop soccer to the next level in this country. Personally, I am fine with Basball, Football, basketball and hockey. That pretty much fills me. However, I know that there are a lot of people who love soccer. As for making a difference, I think that the skill level would have to be a Michael Jordan level and there would also need to extrememly carasmatic (sp?). I am not sure that it's there yet. bushido_man96
I like the idea of professional soccer. However, I just don't know if it will ever take off quite like it has everywhere else in the world. It would be ok if it did, but I'm not sure it will. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
