ensorob Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I've been doing Hapkido for about 3 years in a half now and my school is called Enso Center. We are affiliated with World Hapkido Federation created by Grandmaster Kwang Sik Myung. Who is also my Masters Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do Instructor. I have five of them. The forms/patterns we are four direction, eight direction, and hyung se. One of my favorite Ki Hap Hyung Se which means Universal Energy Pattern.Sometimes we will do rolls with eight direction. We learn Ho Sin Sool which is our set for every belt and there's always five of them.
JGBurnum Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Isn't hapkido fighting using pressure points, etc.? Just tested for my orange belt...Tang Soo!
bushido_man96 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 No, not specifically. Some schools may demonstrate use of some pressure points, but for the most part, it is a joint manipulation-based style, not unlike Jujitsu styles. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
arcelt Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Hapkido is a style that I have great interest in, I only wish it were taught in my area. My two main arts currently are TKD and Aikido, and Hapkido seems to be an interesting amalgamation of the two very different styles. "Mo ichi do!"--Morio Higaonna
Jay Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Yea I would also like to give it a try but I haven't come across any schools in the UK.I saw it on human weapon and it looks pretty good fun. The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
DWx Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Where abouts are you from Jay? I've seen adverts for quite a few schools and know of people who do Hapkido here. There's quite a lot of schools down London way in particular.. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
