I take Hapkido. I've been doing it for about a year and a half. I love it. What we do in class changes constantly. The only night we know what we're doing for sure is Fridays , that's Fight Night.

What kind of fighting do you do for your fight night classes? Is it prearranged sparring, or is more like the randori of judo?

I hope that me and my partners begin to do some sparring with Hapkido. However, I want it to be more like randori as opposed to set ups such.

Could you explain what randori of judo is?

Sure. Randori is the free sparring that the judokas do. You could also look at it like wrestling practice. It is full speed practice against a fully resisting opponent.

thanks bushido_man96,

That sounds like what we do. The 1 instructor was telling my hubby on Sat. that our fighting is comparative to UFC. But we don't hit or kick THAT hard. We don't want to really knock each other out. Most finishs end in tapping out.

The guys hit harder with each other than they do with us ladies.Knees and elbows are allowed with control. I hope I explained that ok. Any other questions just ask. You guys have helped me so much.

our system does. It includes joint locks, throws, falls, striking, kicking and fighting. We have a ranking system. When we test for our next rank we have to show are techniques, falls and such plus fight. We don't have to win every match, but we have to have the indurance to finish the test.

Yes, thanks for the clarification. What organization are you with?

We're affiliated with the Tactical Hapkido Alliance.

I have not hear of that organization before. Thank you for sharing. If I look them up on the internet, will they have a site? Or is it a fairly small organization?

I'm not sure if it's a small organization but they do have a web site it's erietkd.com . My school has a web site also it's

Altoonakarate.com

There's some pictures on our website that my son and I are in.

Sorry I didn't give the sites as a link, I'm not sure how to do that. :-?
