Trying to practice the early stages of it... but due to my recent lack of disciplline it will take a little while for me to master most of it.

Hmmm, I think I should pick it up again and practice regularly.

I used to practice Iron Palm for 3 years. You have to be careful you don't practice incorrectly like I did and caused nerve damage.make sure you have someone supervise you who has gone throught the training himself and knows what he's doing.Don't try to learn from a book or video.

Good advice.

Iron Palm/Fist/Body, is a fundemental part of most major style kung fu training, but just like the kung fu training itself must be overseen by a competent kung fu sifu.

The truth hurts.

From what i've heard, you can badly damage your nerves and end up with too much calcium deposit in your hand(s) if you don't do it right.

Being curious here... for those who are training or haved trained the Iron Palm technique, did you all start off with a thick phonebook?

i didnt start with a phone book....but then again i started my studies quite a many years ago and with various things.....not as safe as science has proven today, but i was luck and my hands and body are great as far as breaking and conditioning are concerned. But if you are truly interested in this concept of body conditioning in any fashion you must be very careful and do it slowly and properly, rushing it or doing it wrong can get you permanently maimed for life but it does have devastating effects in combat situations once you've reached higher levels of understanding in the art form.
