holytriforce Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Well I am choosing between a couple martial arts. I narrowed down my choices between boxing, muay thai or BJJ. I am looking for a martial art that will keep me in good shape, is competitve and not too expensive. For Boxing I found a club: Westside Boxing Club http://www.westsideboxingclub.com/index.htmlIts about 99$ per month and I have been seeing 50-75$ on some other sites and was wondering if thats an expensive feeAs for Muay ThaiWorld Team USA -site is not operationalThe real gym is in San Fransisco and thats too far but there is a branch dojo which has Muay thai but im not to sure about the instructors due to the fact the gym is not the real location.BJJ:I have two options http://roninjujitsu.com/https://www.dawave.com/classes.htmlThey are both roughly 70-80$s and that does not include the gi well those are my options, I am actually really leaning towards boxing due to the conditioning i would recieve but still unsure. Can someone give me some input? Thanks
bushido_man96 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 It looks like you have some tough choices to make.I would like to learn BJJ, so I might lean that way. Each of the styles would be great for conditioning, I think; so either way there. One thing I would do is check to see if the places that offer more than one 'style' have it all included in the class price, or if each costs a certain amount.Welcome to the Forums! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
username8517 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Also check to see how many times a week you are allowed to train at their facilities. While it may seem that the boxing is the most expensive at first glance, they might offer more training times a week than the others.

jaymac Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I have to admit that I didn't look at any of the sites, but I already know enough about those styles to say that muay thai is an unbelievable style that will get you in great shape. I actually practice Shotokan, but if there was a muay thai training facility in the area, I would be there. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
