Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
NightOwl Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I start up BJJ on thrusday...it can't come fast enough! Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt

bushido_man96 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 I had my first post-holiday class today, combined with some arm work in the gym. We did forms and one-steps, and my arms and legs are a bit tight right now. Stretching felt good, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 How old are you, Bushido Man? I thought I remembered seeing somewhere you were 28. Does contact hurt for longer as you get older? It does to me. My body is usually tightest the second day after sparring as opposed to the next day, especially if I was hit in those same muscles. No wonder nobody plays football at my age.I'm still looking forward to it, though. But I also plan to check out the fencing place to see if I want to start that up again. bushido_man96 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Well, contact doesn't hurt so much right now, but the muscle soreness, and the aching of the knees does last a bit longer.Yeah, I'm 28......almost 29. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Havoc88 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Monday will be my first training this year. Really looking forward to it! Tom Train harder!Currently: 7th kyu, yellow belt
tekki Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 The dojo was open for a few days in between Christmas and New Year's, but even when I went it just isn't the same. Attendance is sparse and the focus just isn't there. Which is why I'm particularly looking forward to tonight's class, as it will be the first of the New Year for us black belts. "Karate is a form of martial arts in which people who have had years and years of training can, using only their hands and feet, make some of the worst movies in the history of the world"-Dave Barry
