Anybody can tell me the difference of these two....

On the spinning does the lead foot move to the right then spin right around (in a right hand stance)

How does it differ from a crossing back kick

thanks

Also, another question

What is being said when stances are being switched ... when my sensei calls out 1 , 2 , 3 for the left side..... he then yells something that sounds like, "ACEsh!!!!" or something then everyone switches the stance from a right hand to left handed

thanks for any help

peace

You should not have to move your front foot over to do a spinning kick. You can do it, but it is a telegraphing motion, if you ask me. Of course, sometimes the footwork will be necessary, depending on the situation.

I'm not exactly sure what a crossing back kick is, so I cannot help you there.

The way we perform it, and this may or may not be the same thing pete is talken about. Say for instance you are in a right side fighting stance (right foot is facing opponent).....you take your left foot "cross" it behind the right foot making an "X", then performing a back kick with your right leg. That make sense?....Thats how we do it anyway......

This move, I am familiar with. You can do the same with a hook kick, or a round kick. However, to do a spin like this, I dunno....

Doing a back kick, you basically do a 180, then kick straight back, whereas when you do the spin kick, it gets fired by the torque of your spin. At least, that's how we practice it.
