Hart
I was just wondering if any kareteka here suffer from flat feet, and if this condition impacts their ability to do certain stances and/or foot techniques? I'm slightly flat-footed myself and have some trouble delivering a chusoko-mawashi-geri (roundhouse kick with the ball of the foot). Advice would be very appreciated! bushido_man96
I have a friend at TKD that is flat-footed, and he was also a Reserve. It didn't cause him any problems at all. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
ps1
A close friend of mine is flat footed. He was able to perform every stance and technique. In Shotokan we kick with the ball of the foot and he had no problems with it. Are you having problems with any specific stances? As far as the kick, if you can't do it talk to your instructor about possible substitutions or options. Killer Miller
Kicking with the ball of the foot just takes time to learn - flat foot is not a factor. It will come in time...- Killer - Mizu No KokoroShodan - Nishiyama SenseiTable Tennis: http://www.jmblades.com/Auto Weblog: http://appliedauto.mypunbb.com/Auto Forum: http://appauto.wordpress.com/
kilogreen
I have flat feet and have trained for years with them, at the beginning the condition caused me alot of discomfort but after a while that disappeared and now i dont have any problems at all. Just keep at it my friend and you will find your own ways to deal with and overcome your condition. Half empty or half full?
ramymensa
I never had this problem, but the best student in our dojo has flat feet. He's the champion in all tourneys both at kata and kumite, moves fast and has an excellent technique. It looks like this didn't give him too many troubles into being an exceptional karateka World Shotokan Karate
Fish
I have flat feet. Only problem it gives me is with my knees (because of the inward roll of my feet when I walk/ run). I think karate helps though. "They can because they think they can." - School Motto.(Shodan 11th Oct 08)
chillindan
I also have flat feet and have not found a problem yet., although I have only been training for around 5 months. I also do quite a lot of running as well and this has not caused me any suffering either.
