I may be late in responding to this but if you have knee problems I think you should forget Judo. Not all, but many of the throws require deep bends to place yourself below your opponents center of gravity. I'm almost as tall as you and can tell you that this is not easy eapecially when most of your opponents may be shorter.

TKD was good, but not quite as hard core as I was looking for. Having visited that gym I linked to, I think I may have found a home. Vale Tudo/Grappling on Monday, kick boxing on Wednesday and Kung Fu on the Friday, all of which are taught in a way that complements the others if required. And the gym is open for weight training etc full time, so thats good.

No one seems to be able to tell me what style of Kung Fu is practised, just that its practical Chinese self defence and is accredited by the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts. Any thoughts on this?

It sounds like you have a good deal set up there. Lots of variation, which means it should hold your interest for quite a while. As for the "Chinese self-defense," I don't know what to tell you about that. Give it a go, and tell us what you think.
