tessone Posted May 10, 2002 Posted May 10, 2002 I know there have been a number of discussions about what weapons people own, what is the best weapon, etc. But what weapons do folks actually carry? Specifically, does any carry a cane? I've seen a little of the KSW cane forms, and they look pretty cool. I wonder if anyone carries one for self-defense on this forum (or maybe something else that's not usually seen as a weapon). Chris TessoneBrown Belt, Kuk Sool Won
Tobias_Reece Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 When I wear my PVC jeans, I also wear a Topman belt. This belt can be used as makeshift nunchaku. Blade13 Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I sometimes carry an asp, if Im going to a place where I might need it. (ie-bad neighborhood) If Im injured and couldnt defend myself with my body alone, I will take my cane with me everywhere (other than school). Unfortunately, the only cane I have has a sword in it. lol
SaiFightsMS Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I have a few canes. And I actually use them. Comes in right handy for keeping balance on uneven surfaces. The special one I have with the crook large enough to go around someones neck is a bit heavy. So I carry my old beat up one.
Bitseach Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 I used to know a few teachers who swung a mean old cane! [Ouch x 6!] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My karma will run over your dogma~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sho-ju Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Cane is a very interesting weapon. I hope to learn a little soon. Has anyone here heard of "Cane Masters?" https://www.canemasters.com/ What is it they teach? Are there kata?
Treebranch Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 I have a Japanese Cane Sword but I don't carry it around. I usually carry a small blade on me, but it's mostly for utilitarian reasons. And I think canemasters does have some tapes with cane katas.
tommarker Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Cane doesn't work for me... I'm young and in pretty good shape. I do carry a crook top umbrella when it calls for rain though. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
SaiFightsMS Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Many of the same techniques can be done with an umbrella.
