For me it's all about scheduling. I've made a deal with my employer to have the time off for class. In turn I agree to work any other day of the week, any shift. This gave them plenty to work with.

You have a really good situation there. It is always helpful when work will help with the scheduling. Since I work nights (11:00, usually), then it is fairly easy to make a few classes a week.

What you have come across is a very common scenario, and unfortunately the answer is as individual as the people practising.

Generecally speaking, try to find forms/drills that you can do in short bursts. That way when you have a spare few minutes, you can do them. as for getting to class, time to do some prioritising on paper.... that should help.

currently i'm able to train MA 5 times a week, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday and sunday. But also do my own home training whenever I have free time.

Its all about finding somewhere in your area that you can schedule around your hours

You could do what I like to call a 'time budget.' Get one of those handy scheduling books, and whenever you do something, like wake up, get ready for work, commute to work, amount of time you work, etc, you right it down in the schedule book. Do this for a week or two. By the end of the two weeks, you will have a very general idea of what exactly you do with your time, when you do it, and on what days. You will also see where the gaps in your time is, and then you can 'budget' in other activities.

Now my schedule has changed over time, kids don't need as much help, job hours changed, etc., but the pricipals I use still work.

Good luck, we're all fighting similar battles.

it's all in the scheduling and how bad you really want to do it. I have a family and two jobs, yet I still find time to train and am still in the gym lifting weights 3 - 5 days per week. If you really want it, you will make the time.

that's it, I have to drive 40miles each way and sometimes i make all the excuses in my head for skipping a class.
