twist kick advice

Recommended Posts

I've never heard of 'Gae Baek'. I have heard of a 'Tae Baek' though... Anyway, what does a twist kick look like? Are there any alternate names for it? I've never heard of that either.

Keep posting,

I practice the Chang 'on forms system (ITF style). Gae Baek is my 2nd dan form.

The twist kick may also be called and inverted round kick.

Does Gae Baek have a twist kick in it???????? Just curious as I presumed Tae Baek was the same form and it does not....unless I am really missing something!!!

What is the system that you do Tae Baek in??

Definitely different forms...here are videos of each:

Ga-Baek:

Yep, that's my form. I do it a touch differently, with a little more flow. That was a good twist kick.

Tae Baek:

Check out the twisting kick in the Ga-Baek video...

This was a cool form, too.

Nice form. I would enjoy learning it. The kid doing Tae baek was good-I too do it differently...the moves are the same but the flow is much different.

I enjoy doing Gae Baek a lot. I do it with a lot of power, and since there are no slow moves in it, I think it fits my body style well.

I'm just learning Gae Bek...it's a nice form and it's definitely a step up from the previous one I learned (Po Eun). I like the flying side kick although I know that will take some time to get right. My weakest area is in the roundhouse kicks...

What height do you do the twisting kick at? Fortunately for this over-40 person, we do that kick to the groin.

In my version of Gae-Baek, we don't do the flying side kick. It is just a hopping side kick. The twist kick, I do right at around waist level. I don't do it very high, and the instructor doesn't recommend it very high.
