Simo
When i went to Yamaguchi Saiko Shihan's seminar at Yamba, NSW, Australia, Saiko Shihan told us about moving our "tanden/core" when moving in any stance, even if its kata, kihon or bunkai. As we all know, thats what we should do, hence why we learn basics. But what really got me interested when he called the "tanden" a brain. I thought this was a good interperation. But when i got home, i got onto google and searched stomach and brain, and it came across (to some this may be old new) they have actually found over a 100 billion nerve cells in a knot near the intestine. This is more nerve activity then a human back has. So tht "gut feeling" that you have next time, might actually be your stomach "brain" aka your 2nd brain telling you.anyways thts my two cence.Simo Osu

ps1
Those cells aren't really designed to work that way. The "gut" feeling you get is your brain "telling" your stomach to forget about things like digestion and hunger. It is quickly followed by increased blood flow to your long muscles and an increase in heart rate AKA: fight or flight. It is a neat translation though. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
bushido_man96
Yeah, you have an interesting concept there. Many people think that there is a sixth sense: intuition. This could be similar to what you are relating to as the "gut feeling." https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Simo
yeah i just looked it up on google and it said some german scientist found those nerve cells in the gut, which relate to the brain.I tend to tell myself to think with the core, so my centre of blance doesnt arise through kumite etc etc Osu
lordtariel
It's an interesting concept. I've heard of the "belly brain" before, but never done any research on the idea. There's no place like 127.0.0.
Neo Dragon
this is interesting. The Japaniese do believe that your soul is housed in your stomach.
bushido_man96
I have also heard of it being called dan-tien, I think that is right. The center of gravity, right below the navel, maybe??? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
