bushido_man96 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 The dummy seems perfectly feasable to me. It's like a punching bag for a boxer: same limitations but equally as useful for basic training.Well put. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
tdiedwards Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 i have 2 friends who use their babies to test out locks and bars...obviously not with much force. hehe....but i guess it's of some value.so my advice is, don't waste money on a dummy; simply have a baby and use that
cross Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I made one a few years back. Pretty basic, old track pants and jumper stuffed with rags and plastic bags, duct taped up all the opening.Didnt use it a great deal.
cross Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 In addition, if im "grappling" without a partner i prefer to throw my heavy bag around, cant work locks on it, but you get the feel of weight transfer and the weight ontop of you if you work from underneath. Limited, but if you aint got a partner it does the trick.
gubbs Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I tried making one a few times, but it kept falling apart. I eventually had bought one from a guy who custom made them. I found it useful to drill certain techniques on days when I didn't have anyone to train with. The key to using a grappling dummy is discipline. I've seen other people buy them, use them for a few days, and then just let it sit in a corner some where. They basically wasted their money. I've had mine for almost 4 years now and still use it when I can. https://www.bjjreviews.nethttps://www.bjjreviews.blogspot.com
