eat_my_fudge Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 I'm thinking about doing ju-jitsu and theres a place really close by but it doesnt seem that reputable from the add in the phone book so what questions should i ask
blackxpress Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Just out of curiosity, how can you tell how reputable they are from their ad in the phone book?
stonecrusher69 Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 If you can bring someone who you respect and knows Ju-jitsu and get his opinion. If you don't know anyone look at the class the students see if they look any good.Look at the way they train is it realistic.Ask the teacher to show you a few moves.Test his skill and get a feel for what he can do.Ask him questions related to his art.can he show you an example, does it make sence. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"
eat_my_fudge Posted November 12, 2006 Author Posted November 12, 2006 Just out of curiosity, how can you tell how reputable they are from their ad in the phone book? It's just because they only named 1 instructor and the only other thing on the ad was a mobile number, when all the other martial arts ads had lots of information.

Who knows, maybe he is just getting started with his school. Some of the low profile schools can end up being the best.Ask if he will give you a trial session, to see if it offers what you want. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Many traditional schools do not want to be big and well known. That would take the personal touch away. Give them a try. If you don't like the style of instruction then try somewhere else. Jiffy Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 I'll give you a tip that you should remember forever.A big school does not mean a big school. Some of the best instructors in the world only have a few students and a tiny add, if one at all. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
