Bushido58266 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 ram muay is technically considered a form but in muay thai it is a dance, the 2 katas i have learned are "griu guay" angry elephant, and "tha haan ngaao" soldiers spear.the reason many have not heard of muay thai forms is because they are pretty much only taught in thailand, if u go to a muay thai school here in america its pretty much no different then a regular kickboxing schoolmy teacher was born and taught in thailand and is teaching me the ways he was taught hs name is pravat simalai "Bushido is realized in the presence of death""TapouT or PassouT"
bushido_man96 Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Thanks for the information. That helps to clear it up some. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

baronbvp Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Zapatista, what are the striking arts offered around you? If you can take Muay Thai or western kickboxing, I'd recommend you start there. KB will be a fine complement to your BJJ or submission grappling. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
bushido_man96 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Would you consider Kali/Arnis as no-form options, even though they are mainly weapons styles? I would consider them, at least from a weapons standpoint. For some reason, I didn't think about them. Or JKD, for that matter. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
