SnakeStrike77 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 It looked VERY interesting. Looked like maybe there a counter balance on the other end of the spear? The flexibility of it made for a very deceiving looking weapon. I wasn’t sure if that weapon was real, or just made that way for the movie given how much it flexed. In “Fearless” Jet Li’s spear had a “flex” to it unlike the European’s spear, but it clearly did not bend the way Sky’s spear does in Hero. Very cool! Thanks for the input! Traymond Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 They use a white wax wood which is extremely flexible, so that it is harder to snap against the blunt force of another qiang. To fear death is to limit life - Xin Sarith Azuma Phan Wuku
SnakeStrike77 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Thanks! I’ll have to remember that. I did a post on weapon material, and I questioned getting a white wax bo for my contact verse an ash, or hardwood. I have a graphite bo for my demos. Traymond Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 oooh graphite...I love those...but im not allowed to have them....My Shihan Sensei when he holds tournaments he 'tests' the Bo on his thigh...if it snaps...its no good...so he snapped a few of mine..I use all Ash for mine now, white wax is good because they are light, but I love how heavy my ash seems to be when your working with it for a long time.
