The achievements thread got me to thinking: what kinds of goals (either short-term or long-term) do you have in martial arts and fitness in general?

To answer my own question:

My short-term goals are:

  • Improve overall cardio-vascular fitness to the point where I'm not getting winded during a workout at the dojang
  • Get my yellow belt by the end of the school year
  • Gain some definition and better muscle tone

My long-term goals are:

  • Gain a black belt in Kuk Sool Won. The very-long-term goal in sight would be to never stop training and someday become a Kwang Jang Nim.
  • Improve flexibility (test: be able to do the splits!)
  • Eat healthier to lose fat and gain weight in muscle
  • Learn Korean

there was a thread like this before, but anywho.

I have lots of goals, but my main one would be

short term- lose some pounds, get faster, and maybe start up another art. also to spend more time with my dog.

long term-get all A's from next year(8th) to 12th grade, and all A's after that... get a good job.

It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.

Short Term (By end of this year)

Bring sitting heart rate down to 50 BPM

# of Chinups

# of Pullups

Certain weight/reps on Benchpress

Gain weight - 67kg is the target (59-60 at the moment)

Long term would take too long to write out.

By the way a thread on this was posted not long ago, - http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=2453&forum=2&22

Short term: Heal (pulled hammy) and be flexible. And heal enough so I don't have to postpone my green belt test again (and pass  )

Long term: Be the best martial artist I can be, and teach MA.

Short Term: Heal.... (same injury! pulled hamstring) and do well at my demo on saturday with my redesigned form. Also, I would like to compete more.

Long Term: Train in MA for the rest of my life....travel to Asia....learn Japanese, Cantonese, and Mandarin. (Im gonna be busy!) Live a long and happy life with a career that I'll enjoy.
