:D

I could really use some help here, I went to a BJJ gym yesterday (after much anticipation) and found the instructor was a BLUE BELT :bawling:. I took BJJ for a little while when I lived cross-state but now that I live here in the Lansing area I can't seem to find a good instructor ANYWHERE. I'm currently searching like mad but I figure maybe someone in an organization or somewhere on the inside could give me a slight edge :D .

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

Even though the guy is a blue belt, he may still be qualified to teach. You would have to check with the standards of the organization, but you may still be able to learn something from him. Remember, it takes about 10 years to get a black belt in BJJ, so who knows how much time this guy may have in.

Did you do any work with him, or just watch a class?

I know a few students through my current school that say he's no good. He's one of those 'milk-em for all they're worth' MMA instructors, capitalizing on the current surge in MMA interest. It's pretty sad.

I'm also from the Lansing area, just wondering what school you went to? Try the old gold's gym ( i think it's Atlas gym now, could be wrong) on hagadorn road(msu campus), I think muay thai, bjj are mon & wed.
